in 1988 when I became a licensed educator. I taught public school music as well as voice for a number of years and realized that my passion was music education for small children and families. I began Bartis’ Creative Studio in 1995 with a dream of building a Kindermusik program that would support family and community music making.

Outreach has always been an important part of my vision for Bartis’ Creative Studio. Since 1995 we have served over 500 children through various grants and scholarships. We are currently working with two grant projects, one through the Greensboro Housing Authority and another project through the Greensboro Symphony, United Way and Kindermusik International. Since its inception, Bartis’ Creative Studio has been recognized in at least one category of the Kindermusik International Maetro Program. In 2002 and again this year we received one of 10 worldwide Kindermusik International Maestro designations for outstanding efforts in outreach. We continue to be recognized as one of the elite members of the Kindermusik Maestro Conductorˆs Circle, placing us in the top 1% of all Kindermusik programs worldwide for quality programming.

It is our strong belief that music making can foster better learning, family building and a strong sense of community. We currently employ 7 part-time licensed educators who bring many talents to the classroom; from professional percussionist to music therapist.
